How can we all be right even when we believe incompatible things

A pyramid

Reality is pretty complex, alright... Normally we expect reality to be far more complex than we can comprehend in a limited human mind. Each time we look to one object, many other objects go outside our perception field, even if the eye can still see them. And this is OK, because we have only a limited processing brain power for perceiving the reality.

It's not only the limit of perceiving reality, there is also a limit in our capacity of "knowing" about reality. If we think about it, it is very intuitive: the physical mind is far smaller than the reality we want to know about. In order to know about reality, we need to have a model about reality stored inside our minds.

If is still possible to live in a very "compressible Universe", where most of the information is redundant and the important things can be represented in a way smaller space. However, I find this possibility unlikely. Philosophically, if the Universe would be that redundant, it would not be a very interesting subject to know about, anyway ;)

Therefore, we should philosophically assume that the Universe is way more complex than our brain can represent in its limited physical form. You could still imagine a way to holographic-ally represent the Universe in an infinitely complex brain inside a limited size. However, I don't find evidences about such capacities. As far as we know, the brain information is stored in neurons and synapses, that makes us sometimes less reliable than a... telephone agenda.

If we accept the limited brain capacity of storing information about a zillions times more complex reality, we should also accept that our representation about reality is just a very poor projection of a limited part of the Reality. Think for example how a 3D landscape is captured in a 2D picture where depth is lost along with many details that are not visible anymore because of the poor resolution. In our brain, we don't only lose one dimension and resolution, the projected reality in the brain has many many times less information compared with The Reality.

Even if there is a single and uniform Reality for all of us, the way we perceive reality cannot be the same. And it's better like this, the other possibility would be that we are all observing the same small corner of the Reality, have the same thoughts, take the same wrong decisions based on such limited information.

Disconnected facets of Reality does not need to be consistent with each-other. Even the same thing might project in opposite representations in different brains, while that reality might be way more complex to be projected on a single axis (like "right" or "wrong"). Imagine a squared pyramid that can look like a square or a triangle, depending on it's projection (on a horizontal or vertical plane), while none of such 2D projections are describing it's true 3D complexity.

Only together we can achieve a more complete picture about Reality, even if this is still way too limited compared with what could be possible perceived about Reality.

Thanks for this! A friend and I were literally just ruminating on the subject of the blind spot in our field of vision and how that may or may not relate to our perception or knowledge of human reality in comparison to how impossibly large ( or infinitely small ) the rest of the universe may be. What great synchronicity!
